  • MANGO JAM JAZZ FEST 2 years ago
This was an awesome shoot with Mango Jam, a Rochester local band, during 2023 Rochester Jazz Fest. Had so much fun working with these awesome people. Miced up a the band members and tried to talk with them while they were doing their thing. Very fun capturing these moments in fast paced point and shoot commissions 🙃
  • This video was very different from others, but interviewing fundamentals came in handy. The photagrapher Platon says who you are in the room is vastly more important than the camera and I've always taken this to heart. The shot is second to your ability to feel out the space and leave lots of room for people to be themselves. Very grateful to each person I recorded for inlcuding their voice. For me this project hits all the spots on why Iove video.
  • Bless Up Trailer 2 years ago
This is promoting a series called "Bless Up". Obviously it's a church series on giving which can be a touchy subject so I made the video as lighthearted as possible. I wrote the script, filmed, and edited the whole video. Obviously I didn't film the tv show clips but I did pick them out :)
  • Unseen Anatomy Promo 2 years ago
This video is promoting a series called Unseen Anatomy so I hired the very talented @Unstrungstudios to do some anatomical illustrations. I wrote the script, created the storyboard, set up the camera, and edited. Probably would have liked more time to perfect this but still a fun video.
  • This video was us conducting an experiment in hopes to promote the upcoming Easter week. The goal was to replicate Jesus' walk to Golgatha as closely as possible and record the process. We found the historical consensus on the weight of the beam he would have carried as well as the distance (100 lbs and 650 Meters). By doing this all documentary style and and having real members of the church participate my hope was to make an aspect of the Easter story feel more tangible to the viewer.
  • Life Center Mini Doc 2 years ago
This video was made to promote the Church's christmas offering. Most of the offering was going to the Life Center so I decided to make a video that educated the congregation on what exactly goes on at the Church's inner city food pantry. This involved visiting the location to capture B Role and interviews all of which was done with a Sony A7ii and a boom mic. I've always been a fan of approaching videos in a documentary style to make them as personal as possible. This video could have benefited from a better camera and lav mics at the time, but in the end my sole focus when shooting and editing was capturing realness.
  • Bills 2022 Tribute 3 years ago
This idea was pretty in the moment, I'm a huge Bills fan and wanted to create something memorable for the other Bills fans in our congregation. I wrote the script and assembled the footage. Honestly, working on this project helped me cope with the loss. The talented Pastor Luke Thomas provided the fatherly voice over.
  • Christmas Trailer 3 years ago
The idea for this December series was to follow the story of Jesus, his mother, and his disciple John. At the cross Jesus asks John to take care of Mary and John does so for the rest of her life. By imagining the conversations these two may have had we reviewed the Christmas story from two perspectives; Mary's account provides the traditional nativity story of Jesus as a boy whereas John decribes this moment as "the word becoming flesh". This trailer is a rewriting of the original "What Child Is This" poem and utilizes historical Christian art to help tell the story. My coworker Kristina Bleiler helped thrift for frames and the cloth as well in assembling the set and creating the type brand. Ron Porter built the manger and taught me how to use the lift. In this project I learned that if you want to film hanging things you have to wait for them to settle first which means filming is essentially 10x longer. Still fun tho.
  • Dear God - Bumper 4 years ago
I had about a week to come up with and execute this. I find projects of this nature are easier when you afford yourself to treat shooting and editing as a fluid process. So I gave myself another day for reshoots based on what I was seeing in premiere.
  • Fall Teaser 4 years ago
We basically needed a video that got people pumped for Fall and I had about two days and multiple other projects. My idea was to have Pastor Marlize make a video for the staff text thread and film her filming herself, then actually send it to staff and screen record the text thread as people responded. That plus interlacing archive footage from the Church's past.
  • The script was really the thing I put the most effort into on this one. However tracking down the best stock footage is no small task either.
  • Living On A Prayer 5 years ago
I used this trailer as an opportunity to build on a style I experimented with in a previous project (A New Era). The conversation happening is 100% real so I tried to film in a "raw" sort of way to emphasize the authenticity of the content.
  • A New Era 6 years ago
The goal was the set a tone for not just the next series but for the future of the church as a whole.
  • For this video I took a lot from what I've learned in past projects. Particularly when it came to framerates and sound design. I challenged myself to make a video that didn't require any words other than the series name and other pertinant details. Couldn't have done it without Chloe DuPlessis' excellent prop design and icing skills and Kristina Bleiler's mini gift wrapping and card making abilities.
  • In order to push myself creatively I wanted to make a video that didn't rely at all on music. Instead, I filled the video with sound effects and tried to keep things feeling rythmic. This was one of those videos where while storyboarding, shooting, and editing I kept saying to myself, "man I hope this works". Ultimately I'm glad I pushed myself creatively and am happy with how the video turned out. Couldn't have done it without Chloe DuPlessis curating an excellent collection of props and cowriting the script!
  • Love Lessons Promo 6 years ago
I had storyboarded several ideas for this series but my workload got busy enough that I had to quickly shift plans and go for a graphics-only concept that I could execute in a short amount of time. It all worked out for the best as this video ended up being recieved very well. Definitely couldn't have done it without Kristina Bleiler's excellent graphics and help with the script!
  • Age of Anxiety Promo 6 years ago
When storyboarding this video I kept writing the word "tangled" in my notes. I decided to run with it.
  • This was the first video where I attempted a style which has now become one of my favorites. Not sure what to call it other than "close up videography". Couldn't have done it without Chloe DuPlessis' paper cutting skills and Kristina Bleiler's excellent handwriting.
  • Sisterhood Promo 6 years ago
This was a trailer for an event my church holds called "Sisterhood". While my coworkers were planning the photoshoot for the event I suggested we simply make a short documentary about the photoshoot itself. What made this video a success was all the amazing women involved and the atosphere they created. Couldn't have done it without Kristina Bleiler and Chloe DuPlessis organizing the photoshoot and David Brotzman on camera A.
  • Summer Reading Bumper 6 years ago
I was hired to The Father's House as a graphic designer but it didn't take too long for me to start gravitating towards video projects. This was the first trailer I made for them with some help from my coworkers. After that I started taking on more and more video projects which eventually lead to me being hired as their full time videographer.
  • My Brother Spencer 6 years ago
This was a short documentary I made for school about my brother's hobbies. I'm no documentarian but in a personal way this video still puts a smile on my face.
  • First Timer 6 years ago
This video was my first solo project as a student. The challenge was to create a video using only 5 shots. This project helped me get better at making cuts that felt real.
  • This video may very well be the reason I got into videography. I took a trip with my friend Connor to NYC where we like to busk and decided it would be fun to film the process on my phone. Turned out being a lot more fun than I expected and weeks later I changed my major to Photography & Video.
